ACTION C.5: Cryopreservation of Mediterranean trout sperm
The action consists in optimizing the cryopreservation of the sperm of S. macrostigma through specific protocols and in continuity with the preparatory action A4, which will allow to create the cryopreservation bank of the seed of the species. Specifically, the action includes:
– a field activity for the collection of the seed from mature males captured by traps (action C3) characterized in advance from the phenotypic and genotypic point of view, to then carry out a rapid transport of the sperm in the laboratory.
– seed cryopreservation activity which, following specific protocols, will be stored in special containers that will allow subsequent use in artificial reproduction activities designed to give rise to offspring with high genetic variability.
