In the municipality of Oratino, in the Bivaro area, the project staff recovered the old wash house by cleaning it and transforming it into an hatchery. The major obstacle to implementing this transformation was due to the impossibility of installing air conditioners to refrigerate the water necessary for optimal incubation of the eggs.

But thanks to the will and commitment of the project staff, a particular water channeling system has been created and today the water used is cooled in an absolutely natural way thanks to the fresh air from the north side.
The Oratino hatchery currently houses 16 hatching trays and the first weaning of native Mediterranean trout larvae.
