Legambiente is the most widespread environmental association in Italy and is recognized as such by the Ministry of the Environment, for the protection of the territory and the sea. Founded in 1980, today it includes more than 1,000 local groups and 20 regional committees, over 110,000 members and supporters, around 30,000 classes involved in environmental education programs and over 3,000 young people united in voluntary work camps. Legambiente carries out awareness campaigns and information on environmental matters such as Goletta Verde, Puliamo il Mondo, Orti in Festa and many others. It has always been committed against environmental illegalities, promoting solidarity and peace as fundamental values of our society. It also deals with projects and initiatives for the promotion and protection of protected natural areas, the protection of biodiversity and the implementation of sustainable development of the territory.
